Trauma-Informed Care Certification for Healthcare Providers
Providers across healthcare settings meet trauma every day. It shows up in patients and clients, in ways that are easy to miss, and most practitioners were never trained to work with it. This certification closes that gap.
Through the Harmony Network of Trauma-Informed Healthcare Providers, Malachi Gillihan offers a certification path for individual practitioners and entire practices, beginning with the Level I Foundations training. Complete it, and you leave with a credential you can display and materials you can share with patients.
What the Certification Includes
Level I Foundations is a ninety-minute training, and it stands on its own. On completion, you receive:
A digital certificate you can display in your practice or profile. It does not expire and requires no renewal.
A customized client-facing sheet that explains what trauma-informed healthcare is and how your practice holds to its core tenets. This is the piece that does work after the training ends, in your waiting room, on your website, or in a new patient packet.
Membership in the Harmony Network, connecting you to other providers doing this work.
Tools and practices you can use immediately, at both the staff and patient levels.
The certification combines training with membership in the Harmony Network. You learn the foundations of trauma theory and how to translate that understanding into real work with patients and clients, rather than theory that stays on the page.
The value runs in two directions. When a team understands trauma, the people in their care feel safer and more understood. And providers feel more equipped, which tends to show up as steadier, more satisfying work.
The Three Certification Levels
Level I Foundations is available now. Levels II and III are outlined and in development.
Level I Foundations
The ninety-minute Level I Primer is currently offered in person, with on-demand access planned for spring 2027. It introduces trauma theory and the core tenets of trauma-informed care, with tools and practices you can put to use right away at both the staff and patient levels. It also includes the client-facing materials described above and access to the other providers in the Harmony Network.
Levels II and III
Two further levels are planned. Level II will address systemic and racial trauma alongside Complex-PTSD. Level III will go deeper into approaches and applications through real-world case consultation.
Neither is open for enrollment yet. Malachi is completing his PhD, and these levels are not expected before spring 2027 at the earliest. Foundations is designed to be complete in itself, so nothing about your certificate depends on the later levels arriving.
Who the Certification Is For
This certification is for healing professionals who want to bring trauma awareness to their field. That includes physicians, physical therapists, massage therapists and body workers, personal trainers, and others in healthcare who want to understand trauma more deeply and work with it more skillfully.
It also fits healthcare practices that want to train their employees. The program works for a whole team, not just one person, with practices that put trauma-informed care into everyday patient care.
Continuing Education Credits
The training is not pre-approved by any single accrediting body, because providers in this network answer to many different ones. Practitioners who want these hours to count typically report them directly to their own licensing board. Most boards have a manual process for training completed outside a conference setting.

Malachi Gillihan brings together two things that rarely sit side by side. Lived experience as a survivor and the depth of academic study. He understands trauma from the inside out as well as from the page.
He holds a Master of Arts in East-West Psychology and a Spiritual Counselor certification from the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he is now a PhD Candidate. He has studied under notable figures in interpersonal neurobiology and trauma, including Dr. Dan Siegel and Deb Dana.
As the founder of the Harmony Network of Trauma-Informed Healthcare Providers, he also co-chairs the Complex Trauma Special Interest Group within ISTSS.
